Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur and Mayildauthurai districts, the core operational areas of NAMCO, are prone to cyclones. Not just the coastal areas, but also the interior areas in these districts are affected by the cyclones and floods. It is obvious that the poor and vulnerable are the worst affected in any disasters and they are the ones who have low or nil coping capacities. Most of them succumb to such disasters. NAMCO stands in solidarity with such vulnerable communities and extends them immediate relief measures for their survival. NAMCO believes that such relief support should be immediate and the response should be swift. NAMCO would like to create a separate fund to extend such relief support to the most affected families. The relief items shall contain dry ration, bedding, hygiene kit for women, sanitary kit and essentials for children.
The cost of such kit is in the range Rs. 4000/- per family.
